Coverage
Overview
Coverage lists everything Coin Metrics collects, asset by asset and market by market, and marks which of it your API key can query. Go to coverage.coinmetrics.io and enter your key to see the answer for your own entitlements.
How availability is shown
Because the tables cover our entire data universe rather than your subset, a row appearing at all does not mean you can query it. The pages that settle that question carry three extra columns.
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Community | Free on the Community API, under the Creative Commons BY-NC license |
| Pro | Included in a paid Coin Metrics product |
| Your key | The key you entered can query this row. The heading reads No Key until you enter one |
A cell holds a check when that tier grants the row and n/a when it does not. On metric pages it holds the frequency you get instead, such as 1d.
These columns appear on the market data type pages, on Atlas and Transaction Tracker, and on any page you reach by opening a single asset, exchange, or metric. The plain entity and metric lists carry identifiers, classification, and time ranges instead. Where a table tracks a time range, Min time and Max time give the first and last observations the catalog holds for that row.
Where to look things up
The sidebar groups the site into entities, market data types, and metrics. Every page can be sorted, filtered by text, paged through, and exported to CSV.
Entities
| Page | Lists |
|---|---|
| Assets | Every asset we cover. Open one for its metrics, its exchanges, and the time range of each |
| Exchanges | Every exchange. Open one for its markets and its metrics |
| Markets | Every spot, futures, options, and DeFi market |
| Pairs | Every trading pair, independent of the venue it trades on |
| Exchange Assets | Each asset as traded on one specific exchange |
| Exchange Pairs | Each pair as traded on one specific exchange |
| Indexes | Index tickers, with the candle frequencies published for each |
| Atlas | Assets with full blockchain data from our ATLAS nodes |
| Transaction Tracker | Assets covered by the Transaction Tracker |
Market data types
One page per data type, each listing the markets that carry it and the time range available for each.
- Trades
- Candles
- Quotes
- Order Books
- Funding Rates
- Predicted Funding Rates
- Open Interest
- Liquidations
- Greeks
- Contract Prices
- Implied Volatility
Metrics
One page per metric family, each listing the metrics with their product, category, subcategory, frequencies, and time range. Open a metric to see the entities it is published for and the availability of each. The six families differ in what that entity is.
| Page | Metrics are published per | Example entity |
|---|---|---|
| Asset Metrics | Asset | btc |
| Exchange Metrics | Exchange | binance |
| Exchange Asset Metrics | Asset on one exchange | binance-btc |
| Pair Metrics | Pair, across all venues | btc-usd |
| Exchange Pair Metrics | Pair on one exchange | binance-btc-usdt |
| Market Metrics | Individual market | binance-btc-usdt-spot |
Check what your key covers
- Open coverage.coinmetrics.io.
- Select the key icon in the sidebar, enter your API key, and select Unlock CM Pro.
- The No Key column becomes Your key on every table.
Your key is stored in your browser, so it persists across visits until you select Sign Out in the same panel.
The answer is cached in your browser. If your entitlements changed recently, sign out and back in rather than trusting the Your key column.
Search
The search box in the header matches identifiers and names across every entity type. It matches whole words, so a partial term finds nothing unless you add an asterisk.
| Query | Matches |
|---|---|
btc | The whole word btc |
btc* | Words beginning with btc |
*coin | Words ending with coin |
*coin* | The whole word coin. Both asterisks are stripped, so this finds no more than coin alone |
Each result is labelled with its type, the list can be narrowed to one type, and a search is linkable directly as https://coverage.coinmetrics.io/search-results?query=<term>.
Exporting
Download on any table produces a CSV of every row matching the filters you have applied, not only the rows on the page in front of you.
Limits and notes
- Coverage reads the same catalog endpoints as the API, so a row here means the catalog reports data for that combination. See API Conventions for how
/catalog-v2and/catalog-all-v2differ. That is the same split you are reading on these pages: the rows come from everything we hold, and the availability columns from what a given key can query. - URLs without the
-v2suffix are the retired catalog v1 pages and display a phase-out warning. The sidebar's Pair Metrics link still points at one, so reach that page through Pair Metrics instead.
